Golf is a game whose source and origin is such deep rooted which even confuse historians, most historians have the same opinion that the game of golf might have invented in Scotland in the early 1100s. As there are a number of bits of a pastime which resembles golf, even the Chinese history books have a sport similar to this kind approximately in 11th century. Some researchers believe that the earliest forms of golf were quite similar to what today is known as hockey. The rules and other set of purposes were quite different than hockey. The earliest in performance golf course is in Musselburgh which is known as Old Links Golf Course and it is supposed that the game originally initiated here at around 1672. Coming back to the game of golf apart from the historical aspects of the game we should also know the technicalities of the game. Golf is played in a golf field; a golf filed has 18 holes in total. The objective of the game is to force the ball inside the holes of the golf course; this objective is fulfilled when the striker strikes the golf ball with the help of a golf stick. The player who does this in minimum number of shots wins the maximum points and gets the game. There are many obstacles too that are placed in front of the player, the obstacles includes water, sand and the distance that needs to be overcome. The distances in a golf field are quite large so there are cases when players hit the ball it might travel a lot of distance this distance can also be covered in a golf cart. Describing all the importance of the golf equipments let me tell you:Golf ball: this is different kind of ball unique made for this game only. The total diameter of this ball is 42.7 mm. the material of the ball might differ at times this range from a hard material to a soft material. Golf clubs: this is basically the stick that is used to hit the ball hard so that it makes its way to the holes. There are different types of golf clubs available these are iron, woods, putters and wedge. Each type differs from its use and depends on the player and shot he wants to make. Golf carts: these are small carts or cars that are made to travel the distance the player wishes to travel on field. This is basically used for the transport and equipment carrying purposes. There are many sporting events on golf that take place every year. There are some of the highest paid sporting events on golf one such event is PGA tour. Golf and these events attract lot of people towards itself and thus have also produced some of the best players like world’s highest playing sportsmen like Tiger woods. Golf is one of the most ancient yet the most famous sport that people take up the popularity is immense and is increasing day by day. |
